Under available data sets on each theme or region page is the option to go to a searchable database of GIS layers “ranging from infrastructural data such as road networks or utility lines to landscape change detection such as modification of historic wetlands”. Try <http://www.inforain.org/gis.htm> if links from the text don’t work. This database is searchable by an expanded set of themes (ranging from “biological” and “geomorphology” to “political” and “utility”), regions, place names, and keywords. Some of the GIS data is viewable on-line; some can be downloaded and viewed using ArcView or ArcExplorer (free from ESRI); and some is available by contacting Interrain Pacific. View select FGDC-compliant metadata by clicking on “On-line metadata” from specific data set records. Interrain Pacific welcomes requests for data not found on the web site.
